HERO OVERVIEW |
Byrna is a Magic-damage sustain support who brings a rare combination of healing, damage redirection, and personal scaling to any team composition. Blessed by the guardian spirit Ursa, she channels the Bear's fury to protect allies and punish enemies simultaneously.
Her kit defies easy categorization — she is part healer, part off-tank, and part late-game damage threat. The longer a fight runs, the more dangerous she becomes, making her an exceptional pick in sustained PvP formats and endurance-style PvE content.
Role | Support / Off-Tank Hybrid |
Damage Type | Magic |
Key Mechanic | Guardian Spirit (damage redirection) |
Scaling Type | Late-fight ramp (HP & Magic Attack) |
Artifacts | Talisman of the Orc Princess, Manuscript of the Void, Ring of Strength |
Best Modes | Arena, Grand Arena, Campaign (long fights) |
SKILL KIT ANALYSIS |
Roar of Nature — AoE Damage + Permanent HP Scaling
Deals magic damage to all enemies while restoring health to allies. The critical mechanic: all healing converts into a permanent maximum health increase until battle's end. This transforms a standard heal into a compounding survivability buff that makes your entire team progressively harder to kill as the fight extends.
Strategic Note Roar of Nature is Byrna's highest-priority skill to level. The HP scaling effect compounds across every cast, meaning early investment pays dividends throughout the entire battle duration. |
Guardian Spirit — Damage Redirection Tank Assist
Summons a spirit that binds to your frontmost Tank hero. The protected ally takes only 50% of incoming damage, while the remainder redirects to the spirit. While the spirit lives, Byrna's basic attacks command the spirit to strike rather than dealing direct damage herself.
This is a second health bar for your tank. The spirit acts as an absorb shield with its own fixed HP pool, effectively doubling the hits your frontline can absorb before falling. It also positions Byrna's basic attack output as spirit-commanded — meaning her auto-attack damage scales with spirit uptime, not her own positioning.
Bear Cuddle — Heal-Over-Time + Team Spread
Applies a sustained heal-over-time to your frontmost ally. While active, any healing that ally receives spreads outward to other allies. This transforms your front-line hero into a healing broadcast station — every tick, every potion, every proc ripples through the team.
The synergy with Roar of Nature is central to Byrna's identity: Roar heals the team, Bear Cuddle spreads secondary healing from the front hero, and every instance of healing feeds Living Heart's stacking passive. These three abilities form a self-reinforcing loop.
Living Heart — Passive Magic Attack Scaling
Each time an ally restores health, Byrna gains a permanent Magic Attack increase until battle's end. With multiple healing sources active — Roar of Nature, Bear Cuddle HoT, spread heals — this passive stacks rapidly and continuously, converting Byrna from a pure support into a genuine damage threat by mid-to-late fight.
Power Spike Timing Living Heart makes Byrna exponentially stronger in long fights. In shorter burst-heavy modes, she may not reach her power spike. Build compositions that buy time for her to ramp — Guardian Spirit and a durable tank are essential for this. |
BUILD STRATEGIES |
Three primary build philosophies emerge from Byrna's kit. Choose based on the game mode and the composition you're supporting.
BUILD 1: THE SUSTAIN FORTRESS Best for: Arena, Grand Arena, long PvP formats The goal is maximum team survivability through the Roar of Nature HP scaling loop. Prioritize Manuscript of the Void for Magic Penetration so every cast of Roar hits hard and heals for maximum value. Pair with Ring of Strength to ensure Byrna herself doesn't become a soft target. Artifact Priority: Manuscript of the Void → Ring of Strength → Talisman of the Orc Princess Skill Priority: Roar of Nature (max first) → Bear Cuddle → Guardian Spirit → Living Heart |
BUILD 2: THE SPIRIT GUARDIAN Best for: Tank-heavy compositions, Campaign, Tower modes Centers on maximizing Guardian Spirit uptime. The spirit's effectiveness depends on its health pool — the higher Byrna's Strength, the more durable the spirit is likely to be. Ring of Strength becomes the top priority here. This build treats Byrna as a secondary tank, using the spirit to absorb damage while Bear Cuddle keeps your primary tank alive longer. Artifact Priority: Ring of Strength → Talisman of the Orc Princess → Manuscript of the Void Skill Priority: Guardian Spirit (max first) → Roar of Nature → Bear Cuddle → Living Heart |
BUILD 3: THE SCALING THREAT Best for: Endurance PVP teams, boss fights, City of Asgard Leans into Living Heart's stacking Magic Attack to turn Byrna into a late-fight damage dealer. Maximize Magic Penetration to ensure that stacked Magic Attack actually converts to damage. Pair with a second healer to trigger Living Heart more frequently per turn, and use Bear Cuddle spread healing to compound the rate of stacks. Artifact Priority: Manuscript of the Void → Talisman of the Orc Princess → Ring of Strength Skill Priority: Living Heart → Roar of Nature → Bear Cuddle → Guardian Spirit |
TEAM COMPOSITION GUIDE |
Best Allies
Byrna's kit rewards teams that can sustain long fights and give the Guardian Spirit room to work. Look for:
High-health frontline tanks who maximize the Guardian Spirit's 50% damage redirection value
Secondary healers who trigger Living Heart's stacking passive more frequently each round
Magic damage dealers who benefit from Byrna's Magic Penetration artifacts reducing enemy resistance
Heroes with crowd-control abilities that extend fight duration, giving Roar of Nature's HP scaling more time to stack
Heroes to Avoid Pairing
Some compositions work against Byrna's core strengths:
Burst damage oriented teams that win in the first few seconds — Byrna won't reach her Living Heart power spike
Multiple melee frontliners who may displace the 'frontmost' hero that Guardian Spirit and Bear Cuddle target, requiring careful positioning
Teams already overcrowded with supports — Byrna's damage redirection is wasted if a healer would suffice
Counter-Play Awareness
Understanding how enemies counter Byrna helps you prepare appropriately:
Heavy burst compositions that destroy the Guardian Spirit early remove her primary defensive mechanic entirely
Silence and interrupt abilities that prevent Roar of Nature from casting stop both the damage and the HP scaling
Magic resistance stacking on enemy teams reduces the effectiveness of her entire kit, including Living Heart's damage output
POSITIONING & TIMING TIPS |
Positioning matters enormously for Byrna because several skills trigger on the 'frontmost' ally. In most formations, place Byrna second or third from the front — close enough that her Bear Cuddle and Guardian Spirit reliably target your main tank, but not so exposed that she absorbs direct hits herself.
VERDICT & TIER PREDICTION |
PREDICTED TIER RATING A+ → S (Sustain Formats) B (Short Burst Formats) |
Byrna's kit is exceptionally well designed around internal synergy. Every skill feeds into every other skill in some meaningful way — Roar of Nature generates HP stacks, Bear Cuddle spreads heals, Living Heart converts those heals into damage, and Guardian Spirit buys the time needed for all of it to come online.
She will require smart composition building and patient playstyles to maximize. Players who drop her into a burst-first team and wonder why she underperforms will be disappointed. But in the right sustained-fight environment, Byrna has the tools to be one of the most oppressive support heroes in the current meta.
📌 Final Recommendation Prioritize Byrna if you play Arena, Grand Arena, or sustained campaign content. If your main mode is fast-clearing PvE or speed-meta PvP, she may not be the right pull until her full stats reveal the exact cooldown and scaling numbers. Watch for those at launch. |
