How does the NEW Hero's Way Battle Pass stack up to previous months?
Table of Contents:
What is The Hero's Way?
The Hero's Way is a 28-Day Activity, with 40(+) Levels. Throughout the activity duration, you must complete tasks to earn experience points, to level up the battle pass.

Golden Pass
Players can buy a Gold Pass in 2 different ways
Basic (costs $19.99)
Premium (Costs $39.99
What are the Major Changes from April Hero's Way to May Hero's Way?
The primary changes were
More Rewards, and Improved Rewards,
Less levels overall (from 65 down to 40)
You can no longer purchase levels directly with emeralds; you will need to spend emeralds on tasks during events!
Overflow rewards for the New Hero's Way are Rune Spheres
What's the Big Deal about the May Hero's Way?
The Price Increase
The price of the Golden Ticket increased from $10 to $20. Without looking at the rewards at all, this is a doubling of the cost for the "Pay to Win" (P2W) rewards. The price increase was justified but the subjective statement that there are more rewards, and there are better rewards.
Earning Hero's Way Experience Has Changed
Previously, every day there were 4 tasks that you can complete some or all of. These tasks would add to your total battle pass experience total, leveling your account through the reward track.
Now, the battle pass experience can only be earned during events. This wouldn't be so bad, but it seems like the cost to earn experience has gone up dramatically. This has affected Free to Play (F2P) players, average spenders, and P2W players, but the F2P and average/low spenders get the worst of it.
BIG Assumption #1: Free to Play Cannot Complete the F2P Reward Track
Based on the current rate of events and battle pass EXP (we're only in day 3 of 28) the F2P Players will not be able to level beyond around levels 15-20.
With the old system, if a F2P player played EVERY DAY, they'd be able to reach the end of the F2P rewards without spending much extra saved up resources.
Obviously a completed rewards track, whether F2P or not, is more desirable than only earning about half the rewards. But, we'll need to compare rewards to find out for sure.
BIG Assumption #2: Golden Ticket Purchases do not Guarantee Level 40
Based on the current rate of events and battle pass EXP (we're only in day 3 of 28) the people that purchase the Golden Ticket (to get access to additional rewards) will not be able to level beyond around levels 15-20, unless they then spend more additional resources.
With the old system, if a player purchased the Golden Ticket, AND played EVERY DAY, they'd be able to reach the end of the rewards without spending much extra saved up resources.
Obviously a completed rewards track, whether F2P or not, is more desirable than only earning about half the rewards. But, we'll need to compare rewards to find out for sure.
With the new system, we're basically paying for the Golden Ticket, to be able earn the right to pay more to actually complete the Golden Ticket Rewards.
Comparing May to April
First of all, we must make some assumptions on the data (we're only in day 3 of 28 as of the publishing of this blog post)
I suck at data entry; if I make a mistake, please let me know
100% daily attendance in the game, doing the most possible F2P tasks and collecting all available ad-watch rewards, etc.
x2 Energy in the Golden Ticket is worth roughly 100emeralds per day
Assume one event per day (roughly 10 events), with 0 overlapping events (no double or triple dipping!
Assume level reached based on info from first 2 revealed leveling events
Comparing All Free to Play Rewards
The context here is what an average Free to Play player can hope to earn, without spending a dramatic amount of extra resources (for example, opening 1200 Outland Chests).
Previously, if you played Hero Wars Alliance every day, you could reach the end of the battle pass. BIG ASSUMPTION #1 states that logging in every day will only get F2P to about level 15 or 20.
The final column (New BP F2P lvl 40) are for players who DO NOT buy the golden ticket, but DO spend extra emeralds and resources throughout the month to reach level 40
Comparing Buying Golden Ticket and Nothing Else
The context here is those players that spend the $20 for the Golden Ticket, but not spend any dramatic amount of extra resources (for example, opening 1200 Outland Chests).
Previously, if you purchased the Golden Ticket, and also played Hero Wars Alliance every day, you could reach the end of the battle pass. BIG ASSUMPTION #1 states that logging in every day will now only get you to about level 15 or 20.
The final column (New BP lvl 40 TOTAL) are for players who DO buy the golden ticket, and ALSO spend extra emeralds and resources throughout the month to reach level 40 (if necessary)
Comparing Straight Pay 2 Win from Both
The context here is those players that spend the $20 for the Golden Ticket, and also will spend any dramatic amount of extra resources (for example, opening 1200 Outland Chests).
This is straight comparison between the total rewards available from April's Hero's Way and the New May Hero's Way
