The Best Guardians in a Half Shell Event Strategy
We can play the Guardians in a Half Shell Event any way we'd like, but misterSD has got a GREAT suggestion on how to get the most out of the event! I discuss this more in depth in the linked video here:
If you want to succeed the event do the following:
Ignore the boss completely.
Do not spend any adventure energy on the first 2 chapters (except to do mini-boss quest), wait the 3rd chapter to start so that you get useful resource to unlock red equipment of turtles.

Make sure to upgrade 2nd relic via the "event season" shards before starting to spend energy adventure at chapter 3.
Focus all you can on getting the most red equipment for turtles you can.
Use all extra resources into chapter 4 to get soulstones of the turtles with the vases (make sure to upgrade first the "Change Spray" relic)
This is how you are supposed to do the event. The boss do not and will not help you to do that, it will just waste your resources.

The Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 quest chains include quests to beat the path bosses in each respective chapter - so it is not quite correct to "not spend any energy" until chapter 3.
Also: what are event shards?
If this means the various mats (chrometal etc) - the event ticket yields very little. Even buying the largest bundle (150x3 mats) only gets you to 5 stars (out of 6) for the 2nd artifact (increases mats per win) - the mat bundles from the event ticket may get you to level 3 but probably not. You would have to be really lucky with the random drops of 40x mats, AND progress very far down the event ticket. In particular, there…
